In this Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012 photo, biologist Mario Aldecoa holds a juvenile crocodile he captured the night before near the Turkey Point Nuclear Power Plant in Homestead, Fla.
Aldecoa is part of a group hired by the state’s largest public utility, Florida Power and Light, to monitor the hundreds of crocodiles that roam the waters surrounding the plant. Its cooling canals that surround the plant are prime croc habitat and have been credited for the progress of the crocodiles’ recovery in Florida over the last few decades.
