Websites across the Internet blacked out Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012, in protest of SOPA (Stop Online Privacy Act) and PIPA (the Protect Intellectual Property Act), bills designed to put an end to copyright infringement. Web experts say the bills could threaten freedom of speech. Proponents from the movie and recording industries are advocating for the bills on the grounds it will protect intellectual property.
